Minecart goes on tracks, riding it beats walking and maybe it doesn't need a complicated system of switches and sidings to get the job done. The underground world of Core Keeper stretches on for functionally forever, filled with chasms, monsters, resources beyond measure and even an underground sea. There's a huge amount of ways to play with it all and sometimes that's more than enough.

As soon as you find enough fiber (which you’ll only find in wooden crates for now), make yourself a bed. Taking a quick nap will top off your health bar, so you can conserve your food before running back out to fight slimes.

It’s pitch dark, so you’ll need to plop down some torches, keep an eye out for glimmering deposits to crack open, and consult your slowly materializing map from time to time.

I chose this role because it looked cute, but the food-related stat bonuses are delightful. A certain type of spicy flower grants faster running, for example, and looks a bit like a burrito when cooked. Eating food is also key for filling up your “hunger” bar and staying alive.

yet. But if you’ve got a base-building group who’s down to divide and conquer, try it out. Just know that the fun will peter out, and it’s best not to try and exhaust every crumb of content before 1.0.

Your next step will be to place a Bed. Aside from giving you a spawn point, a Bed can be used to rest and restore your health over a few seconds. If you don't have a Bed set at your spawn point, you'll respawn at the Core if you die.

is really dark when it wants to be, which is most of the time. But you’ll also come across clearings — like a glowing flower-lit river, or a massive chewed-out tunnel that conveniently forms a perfect circle around the game’s starting area — and the lighting-fueled atmosphere hits that much harder.

Unfortunately, after sinking another 10 hours in the game, I can say that no such thing happened for me.

Build a boat to set sail across the Sunken Sea, race across the Desert of Beginnings, and encounter the remnants of ancient civilizations.

Like other unfinished or content-strained adventures, the early- to mid-game portions are the highlight. It’s best when you don’t fully know what you might find in far-out caverns and the XP-based progression system still has that satisfying pace to keep you glued.

This is not an achievements guide, but working through all the sections below could bag about Core Keeper Gameplay half of them.
